Pivot Energy's marketing and communications team needed a professional newsroom presence on their website. The existing setup had several issues:

What We Did

HubDB-Powered News Page

Built a dynamic "Pivot Energy in the News" page using HubDB, HubSpot's structured data system. Rather than manually creating individual content blocks for each article, a card template was created that automatically generates listings from the HubDB table. This approach enabled:

  • Easy addition of new articles without touching the page design
  • Future-proofing for filtering by year, topic, or publication type
  • Clean, consistent presentation of article title, publication name, date, and link

Automated Publishing Workflow

Designed a workflow where the PR agency could add articles to the website simply by checking a box in their existing tracking spreadsheet — completely removing the developer from the content publishing process. This integration leveraged the structured data already maintained in the agency's press tracker.

Media Contact Form

Created a dedicated media inquiry form to capture reporter and journalist interest, including options for receiving news releases, corporate announcements, and community solar updates. Contacts are automatically segmented in HubSpot as media members, building a targetable press database over time.

Newsroom Restructuring

Reorganized the newsroom navigation into distinct sections:

  • Media Contact (landing page with inquiry form)
  • News Releases (separate page for official releases)
  • Pivot Energy in the News (HubDB-powered external article listings)
  • Press Kit (planned for future phase — downloadable materials)

RESULTS

Outcome

The marketing and communications team gained a professional, self-service newsroom that they could maintain without developer support. The HubDB-powered approach ensured that as the volume of press coverage grew, the page would scale cleanly. The media contact form began building a first-party press database within HubSpot, and the automated publishing workflow eliminated a recurring bottleneck between the PR agency and the web team.
